No Tricks - Just Lots of Treats on Cable in October
October is jammed with cable series premieres and specials but it's clear that despite the buzz and excitement, what everyone is really waiting for is the end of the month - and Halloween. Over the years, Halloween has assumed a greater and greater share of our attention. Who knows whether it's an escape from our daily cares - which have seemed to multiply in recent years - or if we just love trick-or-treat candy? Who cares? It's an excuse to watch all those old sci-fi, thriller and horror movies that we love so much.
Cable networks are leading the parade. All the movie channels have something going and the children's networks are planning events and stunts, as well. So put out your jack-o-lantern, turn down all the lights and get in a Halloween mood. It's October. It's all about scary.
Here are some of the Halloween treats we uncovered. There could be more, so be sure to check your online and onscreen listings to confirm these options and to confirm your choices. It's cable television, and things often change. Also be sure to check the programming sections of this Best On Cable web feature.
